Ashley Thomas graduated Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2007 with a degree in Advertising. For two years, she worked for CBS 11, but then she decided to take a different professional path and pursue a career as an educator. Mrs. Thomas received her alternative certification from Texas Teachers and she was hired at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School. As a new teacher, she found that she had a heart for teaching and she took great pride in helping her students accomplish their goals. Mrs. Thomas encouraged her students to be independent, creative, and work as a team whenever possible. After receiving her Texas Educator Certificate in 2011, she continued to grow as a teacher and she received additional certification in Generalist K-8, ESL, Gifted/Talented, and Special Education.
Mrs. Thomas enjoys painting, photography, running, volleyball, and spending time with her family. Ashley is also an avid Texas Ranger and Dallas Stars fan. Mrs. Thomas is excited to start her fourth year at Dallas Academy. Last year she was honored to receive the Teacher of the Year award from the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce. This year she is teaching two sections of 6th grade math, as well as 6th grade World History 6th grade Science. Her favorite activity at DA is the Pumpkin Chunkin’! Students measure the circumference, weight, splat, and velocity of pumpkins as they are thrown off the school roof! She is really looking forward to the 2016-2017 school year!
