I arrived at Dallas Academy in 1981 and have proudly seen our school and Music Department grow and prosper for nearly 3 decades. DA is my beloved school and the glowing enthusiasm of the children has remained the source of my passion for teaching as I watch them develop because of their participation in music and the performing arts here. Quite simply: The children and teens delight me!
After earning my degree in Music Therapy from SMU, complete with pre-clinical and internship as part of a treatment team at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital, I began Masters Studies at UNT in Rehabilitation Counseling. Dallas Academy has been in my heart ever since.
Our Music Department started out in a tiny utility closet, but even in that humble room with meager resources, it was easy to see how much our students were drawn to music as a creative and expressive outlet. I still see the obvious hunger that so many of our children have for creativity and all the educational and therapeutic benefits they are open to through music and drama at DA. DA Singers Show Choir, Children’s Music Classes, Spirit Drums, Performing Arts Club, Private Piano, Voice & Guitar, and Musical productions are some of many opportunities our students have available to grown in at DA.
Outside of my life at DA, I have had the privilege of being Manager and Lead Singer of one of DFW’s top professional variety bands for first-class event entertainment---- DALLAS UNLIMITED www.dallasunlimited.com. My band has afforded me 25 years of wonderful opportunities to perform in hundreds of the area’s venues for notable clientele.
My most excellent husband, Danny, has been a key contributor in the building of DA’s Music Department, continuing to share his professional expertise and service with us for 2 decades. We also enjoy sharing all things Italian, cooking, and entertaining in our home. Our daughter, Morgan is a student at UNT and enjoys her equestrian therapy work at Spirit Horse when she is not song writing.
