Dallas Academy was proud to welcome recording artist Emily Elbert to campus on Friday, May 17th. to perform for the student body and local community. Ms. Elbert is the latest artist to grace the Dallas Academy stage in an effort to increase cultural awareness to students. The Dallas Academy community was excited to hear this talented artist perform many of her original songs on campus.
Dallas Academy’s Director of Music and Performing Arts, Molly Grogan, created the school’s Guest Concert Series for Cultural Enrichment, which aims to bring live performances to the entire school community. Ms. Grogan created this series when she realized that many of her students had never heard a professional music group, seen an orchestra perform, or truly experienced how live music is created. Through this concert series, Ms. Grogan aims to increase her students’ awareness about the diversity of artistic talent available throughout the community. Ms. Grogan has welcomed two a cappella choirs from Yale University as well as the Booker T. Washington’s chamber orchestra to perform for the Dallas Academy student body. Ms. Grogan was excited to add a singer/songwriter to the list of talented performers on campus.
