Dallas Academy Volleyball Team Serves Up a Win

The Dallas Academy varsity volleyball team brought home victory on Thursday night against The Winston School.

Five volleyball games are comprised to make up a match. The first volleyball team to win three out of five games wins the match. After playing all five games, Dallas Academy came out on top. The first game belonged to Winston. They took the win 25-11. Dallas Academy took the lead in the second game winning 25-22. Winston won the third game 25-18. The last two games were won by Dallas Academy with scores of 22-25 and 15-13.

The night boasted a strong showing by all of the Dallas Academy players, but proved especially strong for freshman Dasha Ziegler. Ziegler served 17 of the overall points from her serves, including a few aces, for Dallas Academy.

This victory was especially sweet considering it was the first win for Dallas Academy volleyball since reinstating the program three years ago. Several years ago there was too little student interest in volleyball at Dallas Academy to have enough players to participate in the conference. Now, the team has twelve varsity members and continues to grow. Head coach Ange Hale commented, “This is a young team. For many of our players, this is their first year on varsity. I predict a strong team in future years however last night’s win was a great confidence boost for this year, especially so early in the season.” Dallas Academy is very enthusiastic for the future of volleyball on their campus.
